The Bermondsey Folk Festival was conceived back in 2014, after a chat between a noted folk musician and the Fishmonger at his stall in local market. Since that chance conversation over a convivial carton of Jellied Eels and the first BFF in 2015, the idea has blossomed into a unique London calendar event, attracting top folk performers and fans from far and wide.
Back in 2015/16 the BFF consisted of a weeklong event at six different venues that has now merged into a single day, including the main daytime event and a chilled evening session.
In 2017, to compliment the festivities, we added a guided walk to kick off the day, encouraging visitors not only to come for the music, but to learn more about this hidden corner of London and its heritage.

Cunning Folk Music stages regular folk, roots music and spoken word events in interesting places, with a mission to bring a wonderful interesting vibe to likeminded souls. In 2015 Cunning Folk staged the first Bermondsey Folk Festival, which has grown organically to become one of the best Free folk events on the London Folk scene. We are proud to feature established artists, but also acknowledge how difficult is to get there. So at the BFF we give aspiring local performers a share of the action on the Stage.

Blue Bermondsey Business Improvement District (BID) is an independent, not-for-profit company funded and led by local businesses. Our activities are geared to provide services to benefit them, whilst providing a unified voice on issues that concern them. Over the last four centuries, Grosvenor have guided the evolution of some of the most celebrated urban neighbourhoods. We acquired part of the Biscuit Factory site in 2013 and consider ourselves a part of the Bermondsey community, with a stake in its continued success. We are excited to be partnering with the Blue Bermondsey BID to host this year’s Bermondsey Folk Festival at the Biscuit Factory. We hope to see you (and the sun!) on 8th September.
